Actoris fil. unus ex iis, qui Herculem expeditione contra Amazonas sunt comitati; e bello rediens ab una Amazonum sagittâ interemptus ac in Paphlagoniae litore sepultus est. Cum Argonautae illac iter facerent, a Proserpina impetravit, ut sibi ad heroes illos videndos, exeundi ex inferno copia fieret. Quô apparente et statim evanescente, Mopsus vates Argonautas monuit, ut ad litus appplicarent, eique iusta solverent.

Huius elogia habes in Heroicis Philostrati. Illud maximum, invite illum inclusum in hanc machinam. Verba Philostrati haec sunt: Καὶ τὸν ἵππον δὲ τὸν κοῖλον παρητεῖτο ὁ Σθένελος οὐ τειχομαχίαν οὕτω εἶναι φάσκων, ἀλλὰ κλοπην` τῆς μάχης. Horat. l. 1. Carm. Od. 15. v. 23.
